Many of you will have noticed over the past few weeks that I am now sporting a magnificent Moustache to accompany my beard And I’ve become quite attached to it.
It all started when I was looking at the Squire range of products that we stock, and sitting all alone on the shelf was a little tin of Tash Wax. I felt sorry for it, so I thought I’d see if my Tash was long enough to do anything with. And it was!
I’ve learned a lot from maintaining a moustache for 6 weeks now and my findings are as follows....
1. One does not simply grow a moustache. Although it’s been attached to my face for over 5 years now, When I first made the decision to grow it, I had to decide early on what style I wanted In order to sculpt it into the desired shape. I chose to pay homage to my RAF roots and have settled upon the handlebar.
2. Applying wax is not a simple as one might think.
The consistency of the Squire wax that I favour is pretty hard. Almost like a beeswax. Judging the amount you need without leaving wax crumbs present is reasonably difficult, but I have learned that one must wax the whole ‘stache, not just the ends. Otherwise you end up with a disheveled mess under your nose and it just doesn’t look right.
3. Many people wish they had the confidence to pull a moustache off.
Most of my clients have commented on the face curls with a positive view, I honestly don’t think I could not have it now! It makes me think I should probably sport a three piece suit and a cane every day now.
4. Length matters! Too short and it’s pointless, too long and it’s unmanageable. I’m sure the ladies will agree; moustache length is akin to many of the other finer things in life.
So what?
Well, the last 20 years has seen the sad decline of the moustache, and generally People wearing them are shunned, cast aside by their peers like dashing lepers!
BUT NO MORE! THE GLORY OF THE MOUSTACHE WILL RISE UP- like the Phoenix from the ashes, our heroes like Poirot, Tom Selleck, Freddie Mercury and Burt Reynolds shall be held on a pedestal once more!
Not Hitler though, he was an idiot, and moustaches everywhere do not associate themselves with his views.
The beauty of it is though, we no longer live in an era where you can only have a moustache. Now you can collect a beard alongside it giving you a modern gentlemanly look.
With November approaching, I’m sure that we will see a fair few more being spotted for a great charity, so if you’re thinking of growing one, don’t just grow it, own it like the refined gentlemen that you are! Pop in for advice and moustache products and we can help you realise the dreams that your stiff upper lip has always craved!
What-What?!
