Has the smoke cleared yet? Is it safe to come out of the bunker? Only one way to find out..
Firstly, apologies to my very few constant readers for the break in articles, it’s been a funny time, as I’m sure you’ll agree.
You’ll be relieved to know that I’m not going to take this opportunity to rant on about the BLM movement, the idiot rioters and vandals or anything in between. That’s for another day.
So what’s been happening? Well, most, if not all of you will know that we closed Hedingham Cuts on 31st March, not because of the COVID-19 outbreak, but because we’ve moved locations.
The original plan was to close the old shop down and open the new one in four days, with an army of helpers, and thanks to all of you that offered your services!
As it happens, We’ve had about 3 months to get ready for the Grand re-opening on the 4th July, down at the new location.
Many of you will know the shop, it’s where I was working before I opened Hedingham Cuts, the former Swan Street Barber Shop.
its had a complete refit and restyle and come the 4th July we’re ready to rock, with a few changes.
So, “why the move?” I hear you ask. Well there were a number of factors.
As a very green businessman starting out, I lacked the experience to get a good deal. But when push came to shove, the old shop along with its overheads were too expensive. Rule number 1 in business is, if it isn't profitable, its not a business. So changes had to be made.
Yes, there were rumblings of a big move and a relocation to Colchester with a rebrand to boot. But for the reasons stated above, it didn’t happen, and around the same time the offer of the new premises came up. Of course, I shan’t go into details and the whys and wherefore, but our clients will be pleased to know that Hedingham Cuts as an entity will continue to trade within the village for the long term.

Part way through re-fit
There are a few changes though. The biggest change of the day to day is that the new shop will not have a ladies section and we will be concentrating solely on Barbering.
The extremely talented Becs will be moving with her ladies and working from Artizan’s Salon, still within the village. For any ladies wishing to book with her, she can be contacted on Instagram @becshairgallery
Many of you will know that upon returning to work after the madness has settled a little, the industry as a whole is likely to look very different.
We have created an online appointment booking system, which many of you have already started using. for those of you that haven’t, you can click “book now” through Facebook, click the link in Bio on Instagram visit hedinghamcuts.com or simply clicking HERE
It is a pretty straightforward system, and you can pick your own appointment slot with Both Cal and I.
If you struggle, there is still the option of calling the Shop Number on 07399 231866 Or sending us a message through WhatsApp on the same number.
You may have also seen the new QR codes around, which you can simply scan with your phone to take you to the booking system. I‘ve endeavoured to make the booking process as straightforward and painless as possible, and it seems to work well so far.

Scan the QR code to book
It should be noted too, that we have started taking bookings from the 4th July, and the appointments have filled up fast, however if “Uncle Boris” and his buddies decide for whatever reason that the 4th July just isn’t good enough, we will contact everyone who’s appointment it will affect and go from there, but that’s just the contingency.
For the short term at least, it’s looking like we will not be able to operate a walk in system, so it is imperative that you get your bookings in so as not to be disappointed.
When we do open, will will only be allowing customers in for their appointments, anyone waiting will need to remain outside; Respecting the social distancing guidelines.
I do appreciate that this article is a little dry, but it’s important that the information reaches you, in order to make the best of the circumstances.
